SBU Security Checks in Kyiv's Government Quarter

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) is conducting security measures in Kyiv's government quarter, including checking citizens, possible restrictions on passage and traffic on the streets of the capital, document checks and car inspections, the special service said on Wednesday, UNN reports.

Details:

"The Security Service is conducting planned counterintelligence (security) measures in the Pechersk district of Kyiv, in particular in the government quarter of the capital of Ukraine," the SBU said.

The activities are carried out in cooperation with the State Protection Department of Ukraine, the National Police and the Military Law Enforcement Service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"The purpose is to check the counter-sabotage protection of state facilities, as well as to enhance the security of residents of the capital and persons subject to state protection," the statement said.

Reportedly, the security forces were directly involved with the participation of representatives of the State Security Department:
 

◾️ inspect the territory and individual premises (apartments, offices, common areas of apartment buildings, public service facilities, etc.) to identify prohibited items;
 

◾️ checks citizens who are in the government quarter of Kyiv.
 

"Security measures are being taken in accordance with the legal regime of martial law. During their implementation, it is possible to restrict the passage and travel through the streets of the capital, check citizens' documents and inspect cars," the SBU said.
 

The SBU called on citizens to "be understanding of possible inconveniences and respond appropriately to lawful actions and demands of law enforcement, to have identification documents with them, and to observe the curfew.
 

"We emphasize that in its activities, the Security Service adheres to the principle of legality, constitutional inviolability of the rights and freedoms of citizens," the statement said.
